Venue Comparison
When planning a wedding, one of the most important decisions you'll make is choosing your venue. Thanks to google and Instagram, the options can seem endless.
However, don't let yourself be fooled by beautiful images and make sure that your dream venue ticks the boxes before you pay your deposit.
Below are a few tips to help you narrow down your options and find the perfect location for your special day.
1. Consider the guest list
The size of your guest list will play a major role in the venue you choose. Save yourself the stress of falling in love with a venue that can't host your guest number, and determine your (estimated) guest numbers before you start your venue search.
2. Determine your budget
Before you start looking at venues, it's important to have a clear idea of how much you're willing to spend. This will help you narrow down your options and ensure that you don't fall in love with a venue that's out of your price range.
3. Consider wet weather options
If you're having an outdoor wedding, does the venue have a backup plan in case of rain? Visiting a venue on a beautiful sunny afternoon and looking at all the lovely sunny images on their Instagram, it is easy to forget that there always is a chance it might rain on your wedding day. Make sure to ask about options for wet weather and consider the costs involved in executing these.
4. Also, consider hot weather
It is easy to forget when visiting a venue in fall or winter or on a mild summer day, but hot weather can be a challenge, just like rain. Take into consideration when looking at ceremony locations where the sun will be that time of year and if your guests will be comfortable if it is a hot and sunny day.
5. Ask about the venue's curfew and music restrictions
If music is important to you and you are dreaming of a5 piece band or dancing till early in the morning at your wedding reception, it is important to ask these questions before locking in the venue. Are there rules regarding music, are there any sound limitations and at what time does the music need to be turned off?
6. Ask about amenities and restrictions
Different venues have different amenities and rules. It is important to be aware of these and consider what's important to you. Is there a catering kitchen on site, or will you have to bring this in? Are you free to use any suppliers, you wish? Some venues work only with their recommended suppliers.
